If you were at Resolved on Wednesday, you heard Tim Wolf's announcement about our parking problem. We've only been in our new building for a year and we're already running out of parking spots on Sunday Mornings. If you don't believe us, just take a look at where one of the visitors had to park last Sunday! So here's the issue:
We've seen a lot of growth in Sunday morning attendance over the past year and each week we're getting very close to filling up the parking lot. If the parking lot fills up then our guests, elderly, and large families who arrive late will have nowhere to park.
And here's the solution:
Resolved is young. We're spry. Why not take this as an opportunity to serve others and "count others more significant than yourselves" (Philippians 2:3). Instead of having a "first come first serve" mentality, let's model Jesus and develop simply a "serve" mentality. There's a large parking lot just across Locust Avenue about 100 yards east of our building that belongs to a company called Global. While we still have our youth, let's use it as an opportunity to free up some space in our church parking lot. Would you please consider parking at the Global parking lot on Sunday mornings? It won't be easy. It will require a servant's heart. But isn't that exactly what Jesus requires of his disciples?
"Whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many" (Matthew 20:26-28)
