We Are Resolved

1 John Study Materials

For the next few months we will be studying the book of 1 John together in our community groups. Here are some important details relating to our first community group discussions on Wednesday October 5th.

  • As we mentioned last night, everyone is encouraged to read the ESV Study Bible introduction before actually reading 1 John. This will help us to be able to know who wrote the book, when they wrote it, for what purpose, etc.
  • Read the entire book of 1 John in one sitting. John wrote the book as a complete letter and not just a bunch of verses, so if you read the entire book you will get a big picture of the book. Don’t worry about reading the entire book too fast. You want to read and get the main ideas of the full text, not get bogged down in each verse by itself.
  • After you read the entire book, write down the three main themes that John is repeating over and over again. Basically, If someone asked you “What are 3 main things that John is getting at through the entire book” what would you say?
As a follow-up to Tim's message last night, our church is still in need of servants. If God has placed a burden on your heart to serve on Sunday morning or at Resolved meetings, email me at chrisoc02@yahoo.com and I'll try to point you in the right direction.

Looking forward to studying God's word together!

Free Music

One of the topics we're going to be touching on this year at Resolved is being radically generous with our time and money. Here's an example of a ministry that's doing just that. Come&Live! is a group of Christian artists (musicianaries) devoted to providing all of their music free of charge via their website. There's no catch. They just want to be a blessing to the body of Christ and spread the gospel to those who haven't heard Christ. And if that's not enough, 100% of their profits made from donations and merchandise sales goes directly to help support global needs. Over 40+ free albums available for download. Listen, enjoy, and share!

Sunday Morning Parking

If you were at Resolved on Wednesday, you heard Tim Wolf's announcement about our parking problem. We've only been in our new building for a year and we're already running out of parking spots on Sunday Mornings. If you don't believe us, just take a look at where one of the visitors had to park last Sunday!

So here's the issue:
We've seen a lot of growth in Sunday morning attendance over the past year and each week we're getting very close to filling up the parking lot. If the parking lot fills up then our guests, elderly, and large families who arrive late will have nowhere to park.

And here's the solution:
Resolved is young. We're spry. Why not take this as an opportunity to serve others and "count others more significant than yourselves" (Philippians 2:3). Instead of having a "first come first serve" mentality, let's model Jesus and develop simply a "serve" mentality. There's a large parking lot just across Locust Avenue about 100 yards east of our building that belongs to a company called Global. While we still have our youth, let's use it as an opportunity to free up some space in our church parking lot. Would you please consider parking at the Global parking lot on Sunday mornings? It won't be easy. It will require a servant's heart. But isn't that exactly what Jesus requires of his disciples?
"Whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many" (Matthew 20:26-28)

Don't Neglect Meeting Together

This Wednesday, Jason Reyes gave an awesome message on the importance of community group. We pray that everyone was both convicted and encouraged by God's word which says "let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." (Hebrews 10:24-25)

Below are just a few opportunities for us not to neglect meeting together.

The Marlton Fall Festival is held on Main Street in Marlton. We'll be handing out water and balloons, and doing face painting for the children. This a great opportunity to meet those from our community!
Laugh Out Loud is a great opportunity to invite friends/family/coworkers. Click here for a video from our last Laugh out Loud.

Welcome Back

Sorry folks. It's time to say goodbye to BBQs, vacations, flip flops, and sunburn. It's September again, which for many of us means classes are starting, it's getting darker earlier, and it's back to reality.

Thankfully September also means that Resolved is starting up again! Don't forget to mark your calendars for this Wednesday September 14th at 7:30. This year we'll be going through what it looks like to be a disciple of Jesus and the calls that Jesus has made on each one of our lives. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
